Disabled isn’t a Dirty Word! | A choice of 4 Heart Postcard Prints | 4″x6″
I love that ‘Disabled’ is no longer a dirty word, especially having lived with chronic illness since childhood. With that in mind, I wanted to use my colourful art to show that ‘disabled’ is not a synonym for boring or sterile. We are all joyous, colourful people who deserve to be seen!
Each print features a heart filled with one of my own uplifting and vibrant designs, alongside text I hope speaks to everyone with a disability, chronic illness, neurodiversity, or mental health condition. The subtle shading and shadows give the heart and accompanying text a satisfying 3D effect that really completes the print and makes it pop!
The prints themselves are A6 – postcard size – and printed on stiff cotton rag paper. This not only gives the art a hand-painted look but also means they’re substantial enough to sit propped up on a shelf or desk, or simply be attached to the wall with a single piece of washi tape. They’re delightfully dinky and oh-so-versatile.
You can choose from a selection of 4 Disability Pride designs:
*Disabled
*Spoonie
*Divergent
*Soft is Strong
What I wish for everyone who sees my artwork is to feel uplifted and celebrated; to feel seen and no longer feel alone. While I do think that we live in a world that is more accepting and understanding of disabilities and illness than it was, say even 10 years ago, I think we can all agree there is still a long way to go. Let’s keep showing up though in all our colourfulness for ourselves and for those that are unable to do so themselves.
