‘London Icons’ is a screen print celebrating famous pieces of Modernist and Brutalist architecture in London. Featured buildings include the Design Museum, the Trellick Tower, the Alexandra Road Estate and the world famous Barbican Centre.

This open edition screen print is a collaboration by the members of Underway Studio collective for their portfolio ‘Printed Spaces’.

‘Printed Spaces’ is a collection of screen prints exploring the architecture of London’s cultural spaces. From galleries to music venues, many of these structures have been repurposed over the years becoming part of the fabric that makes up our city. In recent times some of these spaces have come under threat from property developers and new laws. Underway Studio aim to show the importance of these venues today in adding to London’s cultural diversity and rich history.

The paper measures 50 cm x 70cm.

Open edition, hand-printed on 300gsm Southbank Smooth paper. Each print is signed by Underway Studio.

Underway Studio is an illustration and printmaking collective based in Brixton, South London. Founded in 2015, the four members of Underway Studio use a unique, collaborative approach to create limited edition screen prints for sale. Print designs are passed between the collective until they are finalised and ready to be screen printed. As a result, the artworks have an impression from each artist creating a unique aesthetic . Much of Underway Studio’s work is influenced by architecture, form, texture and colour. Using physical print processes means their visual language is both playful and distinctive, incorporating photography, collage, drawing and embracing any happy accidents along the way.

The current members of Underway Studio are: Aiden Barefoot, Anna Schmidt, Caitlin Parks and Melissa North.
