About the artwork
Step into this unique view of Florence, inspired by the oldest known view of the city by Bernardo Daddi in the early 14th century. At its centre stand the magnificent Duomo and baptistry, with their striking marble facades. Surrounding them, Florence’s medieval tower houses create a labyrinthine cityscape, hinting at the wealth and power of Florence’s noble families.
This painting transports you to a bygone era, where the city’s skyline is dominated by both spiritual and secular symbols of prosperity and prestige.
