Handcrafted by me using faux leather printed with my original colourful artwork, this brooch features a vibrant abstract pattern reminiscent of graffiti in a bold lemon yellow and candy pink colourway. The structure of the brooch comes from the birch/poplar plywood that I’ve painted a metallic lavender colour to really make it complete.

Quirky Speech Bubble Brooch | Stay Weird

I believe Staying Weird is the key to happiness; when you stop worrying about what others are thinking you can finally start to enjoy life.

Whether you’re fully signed up to the Weirdo Club or just starting out on you quirky adventures this brooch is surely made for you. And speaking of made for you, I shall share with you how I create my quirky brooch.

I begin by designing an original fabric pattern, which is professionally printed onto high-quality faux leather. Using a digital cutting file I’ve created, complete with a suitably quirky phrase, the fabric is machine cut to shape. To ensure a polished finish, I then hand-paint the edges in a coordinating colour.

The next step involves eco-friendly, low-odour birch plywood, which is laser-cut into shape in no time. I then apply three light coats of water-based metallic purple paint for a flawless finish.

Finally, I attach two lockable brooch pins, between the wood and fabric, to guarantee your badge stays secure and perfectly aligned all day long.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination with Colour, most specifically the almost magical way it can change your mood and state of mind.

My desire, when I began Sophie Kate Creates, was to create little pops of colourful accessories for people to wear, and vibrant creations to decorate people’s homes; items that allowed anyone to quickly brighten up an outfit, or room. A desire that holds true to this day.

Every item I create begins with one of my original fabric designs, carefully printed onto premium faux leather. Whether it’s a pair of dainty earring studs, a bold statement necklace, or a vibrant drinks coaster, each piece is thoughtfully made with the desire to bring a happiness to your world.
