These lovely sprigs of field bindweed were pressed using the traditional method of flower pressing and then digitalised to create this lovely and unique print.
I was furloughed at the beginning of the pandemic and had a lot of
spare time on my hands. Having grown up in the middle of nowhere in
Norfolk, I found myself stuck in a city and yearning for the peace and
quiet of the fields and woods, which I knew would soon be brimming
with beautiful wild flowers.
After a few weeks of trudging along pavements I came across Marston
Marshes, a nature reserve in Norwich. It was like walking into
paradise. Its edges were heaving with cow parsley, buttercups danced
about all over the place and the woods were carpeted in
forget-me-nots.
I couldn’t help myself and picked a few to bring home with me. This
resulted in an experiment, combining the traditional method of flower
pressing with digital technology to create lovely prints. Over the
years to come I aim to document every wild flower and plant in the uk.
Some of which are sadly becoming less and less common.
