Started as an artistic research project by a London-based Japanese artist Akiko Ban in collaboration with a graphic designer Taiyo Nagano, MYSTIC FORMS is an experimental jewellery brand inspired by the ‘mystic forms’ found while travelling around the world from historic remains in Egypt, spiritual temples in Thailand and lively market in Morocco.
Akiko is a practice artist known for her lively drawings and sculptures that seek to establish primitive, naturalistic and spiritual view of the world. She holds a MFA in Sculpture from Slade School of Fine Art and a BA in Drawing from Camberwell College of Arts. Her works have been exhibited internationally and her recent projects include the collaboration with Basement Jaxx, the Japanese animation Evangelion and a Tokyo fashion brand matohu. Taiyo is a graphic and digital designer originally from Tokyo and he is an integral part of MYSTIC FORMS as a creative director. He is the founder of the east London design studio Tamassy Creative. He holds an MA in Digital Arts from Camberwell College of Arts and BA in International Studies from Meijigakuin University in Japan.
MYSTIC FORMS has collaborated with Tate Modern, British Museum and University Arts London and their collection has been stocked internationally.
