Valentine’s Or Galentine’s – Gifts to Celebrate
In case you weren’t acutely aware, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. If you have someone special in your life we have some lovely gifts to celebrate. But February isn’t exclusively for couples – not since the 13th of February was nominated as Galentine’s Day back in 2010.
Galentine’s Day is like Valentine’s Day, but for your gal-friends. Celebrate besties, sisters, Mums, Grandmas — etc, it’s your chance to show them just how much they mean to you.
You can celebrate it any way you please. Host a dinner, pop out for brunch, throw a party, book a spa day, etc. However you like to spoil your best friends, this is the day to celebrate.
According to wikipedia, we have Amy Poehler from the TV show Parks and Recreation to thank for this special day. Her fictional character, Leslie Knope, coined the term back in 2010. She says in the episode, “What is Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it… ladies celebrating ladies.” So, basically, it’s the greatest made up holiday ever!
So even if you don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day – you can still celebrate your friends – and Galentine’s Day is perfect for doing exactly that.
